Rookie cop who gave lieutenant a dance at holiday party reveals she won’t be returning to work

A rookie NYPD cop who made headlines after giving a married lieutenant a lap dance at a holiday party has issued a tearful apology to the person’s spouse.

Vera Mekuli, 26, apologized to Melissa McGarry after she treated her husband, Lt. Nick McGarry, to a lap dance at Rory Dolan’s bar in Yonkers on December 15.

Mekuli also revealed that she has been working from home since the story emerged – and angrily reported on how she felt “judged” for the incident, which she says was fueled by the misogyny.

“I would like to apologize to the lieutenant’s wife, you already know I’m sorry, I really am,” she said in video obtained by TMZ. “I hope it didn’t cause too much harm in the marriage or in your personal life.

“I know it’s been difficult,” she continued. “It wasn’t supposed to be like that, I actually didn’t have any data on your marriage.”

She claimed it was supposed to be for ‘s**ts and giggles’ and ‘everyone was drunk’, but it led to embarrassment. The cop is now “working from home” this week.

Vera Mekuli, 26, has apologized to Lt. Nick McGarry’s wife, Melissa, saying she ‘didn’t have any data on your marriage’ when she gave her husband a lap dance during the Christmas party in the forty-fourth arrondissement on December 15.

“There are a number of judgments and shame that shouldn’t be there, although there are a number of helps.”

Mekuli also mentioned that the “mile of space” her neighborhood patrols made her fear people would recognize her and leave: “Oh, that’s the woman, she gave the lap dance.”

“My job me, my job me and the off responsibility are two totally different individuals. I can still patrol and police the streets like I used to and anyone can. I really feel like I shouldn’t be judged or something because of an off-responsibility, not-in-uniform lap dance.

She also claimed that she was deemed tougher because she was a “woman” and “not a person”, and that her status as a “rookie” also accomplished a task. She claimed that if she was a person “it would be more of a joke and stay in-house.”

Footage from the occasion showed Mekuli grinding his ass in McGarry’s lap as he sat in a chair and held onto his lap.

In another video, the rookie cop turns around to face McGarry and straddles the forty-fourth precinct commander as he grabs him by the waist.

In the video, Mekuli looks carefree as she throws her palms up and dances over her superior to the cheers of the gang.

One onlooker, meanwhile, shouted “Oh my God”, and another appeared to hand the lieutenant a wad of cash.

In a single scene, she grinds down a single man, who is bent over and tending to the floor.

NYPD chiefs wasted no time in disciplining McGarry, who has worked for the NYPD since 2010.

He was reportedly reassigned to serve in Transit District 12 in the Bronx after the sordid video emerged.

An anonymous source informed the New York Post in the wake that he “is aware that he screwed up”.

“Toying with your subordinate is a no-no at work,” the source said, adding that the rookie cop “don’t know any better because she just got to work.

“I can’t even tell you how many times they notify incoming supervisors,” he said, noting, “It sets an unpleasant precedent.”

Following news of Mekuli’s steamy encounter with her boss, her father said she cried over the ordeal – and he is now planning to press charges.

The rookie’s father told the Post on Monday that his daughter informed him: ‘Dad, I made a mistake. I’m very embarrassed about what I did. I embarrassed you and my household.

The father mentioned that his daughter was “pissed off” by the incident.

“She cried and cried,” he said. ‘She is younger. She doesn’t understand how he is married, the lieutenant. He should know more.

“I will sue them.”

There was additional drama on Monday when Melissa McGarry shouted at a New York Post reporter and photographer outside the New Windsor home, shouting “F*** you!” to them while she was restrained by her husband.

“It’s not worth it, get back in the car,” the lieutenant told his furious wife as she continued her rant.

Melissa McGarry informed members of the press: “There are different issues to worry about in this world!”

As the pair drove away, Melissa McGarry took her palms off the steering wheel and turned the fowl toward the reporter with each palm, yelling, “Fuck you!” Kiss my ass ! Kiss my ass !’
