Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is on the way, but in the meantime here’s another convoluted whodunit – and it has even more stars in its cast. The first film in seven years from David O Russell (The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook), Amsterdam features Christian Bale and John David Washington as two soldiers who recover together after World War I, and Margot Robbie as a nurse who take care of them. Years later, in the 1930s, they are framed for murder and uncover a plot involving shady characters played by Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, Taylor Swift, Rami Malek, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Michael Shannon, Zoe Saldana and Suite. Deadline calls it “a star-studded snapshot of life…the cinematographer has invested it with a compelling period look, the dialogue crackles with humor and wit, and every time the door s opens and a new character comes in, you go, wait, that actor is in that movie too?”
